Example 4: Table to generate a simple conversation

The table can be adapted to reflect information the students have learned. For example, it could include information on siblings or school subjects. It can be presented in English or Spanish depending on how much language the students are to generate. It challenges students to use information other than that which relates specifically to themselves and therefore gives them an opportunity to use a wider range of vocabulary. It also gives them an opportunity to ask the questions. The information could later be transferred into a paragraph conveying simple information about the student’s new personality or displayed in a poster like the one in Example 4.

B: ¿Cuántos años tienes?

A: (Throws a 3) Tengo dieciocho años. ¿Y tú?

B: (Throws a 2) Tengo veintisiete años. ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?

A: (Throws a 4) El veinticinco de diciembre. ¿Y tú?

B: (Throws a 1) Mi cumpleaños es el cuatro de julio.

A: ¿De dónde eres?

B: (Throws a 3) Soy de Australia. ¿De dónde eres?

A: ( Throws a 5) Soy de España.
