Possible learning experiences (suggested activities)

Suggestions for learning activities are made for each pair of levels (or separately for levels 7 and 8) of the Latin guidelines and relate mostly to the achievement objectives in the core communication strand. Teachers, with their students, will derive learning outcomes from the achievement objectives to meet particular student needs. Because students will vary in their starting points, rates of progress, and interests, teachers may need to adapt the learning activities to achieve the required outcomes. Socio-cultural contexts

When planning their Latin language programmes, teachers need to ensure that they integrate culture into all aspects of the programme. Suggestions for possible contexts are provided in a link from each of the banded or separate levels. These suggestions do not form a comprehensive list, but reflect and intersect with, the language focus at each pair of levels or level. Again, teachers will adapt and supplement these suggestions.

Linguistic content and examples

Suggestions for linguistic content are provided for each pair of levels (or for each of levels 7 and 8) of the Latin guidelines. These suggestions reflect the expected degree of difficulty so that teachers can help students to achieve linguistic competence. Teachers will adapt and supplement the suggestions to relate to the interests and capabilities of their students and the specific requirements of their programmes. The examples clarify for teachers the nature of language structures to be included. They do not form a comprehensive list, but illustrate the linguistic content at each pair of levels or level.
